Do you live in the Bay Area? Are you looking to retrofit your home against Earthquakes? Are you interested in reinforcing a house or building so that it is less likely to be damaged or separated from its foundation during an earthquake? With earthquake retrofitting in place, you're less likely to face significant damage when a natural disaster occurs.
The silver retrofit brackets you see here seem simple, but when they are attached at the proper spacing to your interior foundation and floor system, they can save you a lot of future problems.
The homeowner was worried that their home wasn't retrofitted well enough to properly defend against earthquakes and the damage they cause. Our crew, lead by Foreman Marvin Melendez, installed plywood sheathing to upgrade the cripple wall, and Simpson Strong-Tie URFP10 and L70 brackets to connect the cripple wall/mudsill to the concrete foundation and the floor framing to the cripple wall.
This project was completed in two days and the homeowner couldn't have been happier.
By adding plywood sheathing, along with URFP10 Brackets (pictured connecting the plywood to the concrete sheathing) and L70 Framing Angles (not pictured), your home becomes stronger and can defend itself against earthquakes better.
