This 100 year-old home needed to continue updating itself to modern times. The homeowner had already set up solar panels on the roof, but now it was time to look for ways to improve the home at the foundation level. We all know that California has several earthquakes that happen with us being aware of most of them (wait a second, did you feel that?).
Our Structural Consultant, Jason Dye, visited the property to provide an inspection and a quote to retrofit it. He educated the owner on the modern products that can help protect his home from the incremental and sudden damages that earthquakes can cause.
Mr. R had been dealing with sloping floors. He saw our ad on Facebook and decided to give us a call.
Our Structural Consultant, Mike Almond, performed the free inspection on a rainy day. He took observations of the exterior of the home. He didn't notice any kind of evidence of foundation distress on the home, but he did see that the concrete driveway was severely cracked and uneven. He then entered the home and took zip level readings to determine if there were any points of unevenness amongst the floor. The zip level readings showed that the floor was uneven, with some points as much as an inch lower than the rest of the floor.
Mike then descended into the crawl space to see what was causing the issue. He observed that some of the wooden support posts were tilted. He documented and took photos of everything he saw. After his inspection was done, he spoke with Mr. R about his findings and even drew up a free quote for a solution while he was there. Now Mr. R knows what needs to be done in order to repair his home.
