The homeowner had called us requesting help regarding removing stormwater from his crawl space that accumulated heavily during the rainy season. The solution he chose was to have us install our "SmartSump" Sump Pump along with a drain pipe installed near the stormwater entry points to collect water and divert it away from the home because stormwater belongs anywhere but the inside of a home.
The sump pump was installed within the exposed earth, with the lid level to the top of the soil. The drain pipe was installed along the perimeter, beneath the soil, and surrounded by a crushed rock to help with water collection. When the water is sucked into the sump pump, it is discharged through a pipe that carries the water through an existing vent within the crawl space and out to a designated drainage area; in this case, it was connected to an existing downspout that drains water to the street.

Built-in 1912, this 50-room apartment building was due for some restoration. Within the center of the building is a courtyard with a decorative fountain at the center. In 1917, the courtyard and adjacent balcony were used for a few scenes of the movie titled Mothers of Men.
When we were called to take a look at the Jobsite, it was clear that the courtyard needed new life especially since the building had been designated for Senior-Living; the unleveled courtyard was a safety hazard for the building's elderly residents. One trip could equal a broken hip or worse.
Our concrete crew worked diligently to bring the courtyard back to its Hollywood days. And even though the building may never see Hollywood fame again, it's a pleasant place to look skywards to the stars.
