Concrete Repair Case Studies: Pool Deck Stabilization in Alamo, CA
It's not often that you find a home that has a pool deck like this one. We were used to installing piers on homes that have been built on a hillside, but we had never come across this kind of situation. On top of the new type of work, we were working with a new engineer.
We began by installing helical piers vertically into the soil directly beneath the outer edge of the pool deck. Then we installed a helical tieback diagonally into the hillside directly beneath the pool. The next step was to pour a new concrete grade beam that would curve around the pool deck parallel to the outer edge, also encasing the heads of each helical pier inside of it. After the grade beam was dry, we installed 4 SmartJack Adjustable Steel Posts to connect the pool deck to the grade beam, allowing the pool deck to be lifted and leveled.
Now the family can continue to have fun at their pool without having to worry about their pool deck taking a dive off of the hillside.

JOB STORY. The beginning of the project saw our crew installing helical piers into the soil. These would soon be encased within a newly poured concrete footing.
